How to Play
First, you'll need to register.
Log in with your username/password.
New Longevity players will be started at the first of 8 levels. New Longevity FP players will be started at the first of 4 levels.
Returning players will automatically resume play at their previous stopping place.
Questions and Points
Each level has a series of 20 multiple-choice regular and 5 crisis clinical
questions. Regular questions are worth 150 points each; correctly answered crisis questions earn 400 points each. However, if a crisis question is answered incorrectly, a
player's score loses 100 points. A maximum of 5 rejuvenation questions are offered each time
a question is answered incorrectly. These "make-up" questions earn 100 points each.
If your answer to a regular or crisis question is correct, you will earn points and move along to the next question.
For each incorrectly answered regular or crisis question, a pop-up box containing helpful textual information will appear
to aid you. You can also listen to Dr. John Morley's commentary by clicking on the Listen button, pictured below.
You must have Real Audio installed in order to hear the commentary.
In order to progress, you will need to select the correct answer and click the "SUBMIT" button again. In this case, however, you will earn no points for the "correct" answer.
Your cumulative score will always be on screen. Also, you can see what question you are on by taking a look at the question area:
| Q: 2/20 |
Indicates you are on question 2 of a 20-question level. |
| Q: 3/20 (C) |
C denotes a Crisis question. |
| Q: 3/20 (R1) |
(R1) indicates that you are presented with rejuvenation question 1 (of 5) after answering question #3 incorrectly. |
In addition, the following icons indicate the various types of questions you will be presented with:
 |
Crisis questions 400 points each -100 points if answered incorrectly |
 |
Rejuvenation questions 100 point (each) make-up questions. (maximum of 5 available) |
 |
Indicates your point range. Updated each time you earn 5000 points. |
At the end of the game, Longevity points are converted into additional years of life for your patients -- every 1000 points equals one
additional year of life for the patient. Patients begin the game at age 65, so a perfect score of 40,000 Longevity points computes to a
rollerblading 105-year-old patient. Longevity FP players can earn a maximum of 20,000 Longevity points.
Sounds
During the game, various sounds will alert you when crisis and rejuvenation questions are presented, your points icon advances and level changes.
You have the option to disable these sounds when you register and subsequently, by updating your information.
In order to hear these sounds, confirm that your browser can accept wav files (audio/x-wav).
During the Game
At any time during Longevity and Longevity FP, thanks to our unique "save and resume" feature, you can stop and return, at a later time, to continue playing.
If you wish to earn AMA Category I CME credit, you must submit the correct answer for all clinical questions and pay a small fee (US$40 for Longevity and US$20 for Longevity FP).
